FAQ
The honest questions.
Fifteen questions we get asked most often. If yours isn't here, we'll answer it on the first call — write to us and we'll add it to the list.
Beyond kitchens, what else do you actually build?
Almost any custom millwork: whole-home renovations, library walls, mudrooms and entryways, wardrobes and dressing rooms, wine rooms and humidors, integrated desks, beds and one-off custom furniture, restaurant interiors, retail shop fittings (shelving, display cases, point-of-sale counters), boutique office fit-outs, hotel-suite millwork, gallery casework. If it's solid-wood architectural millwork, we make it.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes — workmanship is warranted: if a joint, finish, or door fails because of how we made it, we'll fix it. The exact terms are written into the contract you sign at design lock. Hardware, appliances, and stone are covered by the original manufacturer's warranty.
Is the studio family-run?
ProLine Millwork Inc. is owner-operated. The studio is led by Andrii Nikolaienko, with a team of senior cabinetmakers, a project lead, a finisher, and an install crew. Andrii is on every project from first walk-through to install.
You're a new studio — why should I trust you with my home?
ProLine Millwork Inc. was incorporated in 2026, but the team behind it has been building millwork in Calgary for years before that. Andrii hand-picked each member of the team — every cabinetmaker, finisher and installer brings serious experience of their own. Ask for references and we'll connect you with previous clients from earlier work.
How quickly can you turn a project around?
Faster than most full-custom studios — we run drawing, build, finishing and install under one roof, so there are no subcontractor hand-offs to wait on. The exact schedule depends on the scope and the season, and we give you a real, dated install at design lock and stick to it. The honest answer to 'how long' is always: tell us about the project and we'll give you a real number on the first call.
How long does install take?
Quick — kitchens, built-ins and commercial fit-outs all install in a window we agree with you in advance. Commercial installs are usually run overnight or over a weekend so the business does not lose operating days. We confirm the exact dates the day we start cutting in the workshop.
Do you work with my architect or interior designer?
Often, yes. Many of our best projects come through architects and designers — we are happy to work alongside your team, take direction, and stay in our lane. We're equally comfortable being the lead on a project with no other designer involved.
What does the design phase actually include?
Two formal design reviews with hand-drawn elevations, a materials and finishes selection meeting in our workshop, a final 3D walk-through where it adds value, and a fully specified quote and dated install at design lock — all moving as quickly as the decisions get made.
What does a project usually cost?
Our pricing is built to be accessible — we want quality custom millwork to be a real option for normal Calgary households, not just for the high end. We share rough numbers in the first conversation so you can decide whether to keep talking, and we lock the price at design lock with no surprises after. We'll be honest about where we can save you money and where it isn't worth cutting.
How do payments work?
A small design retainer at the start (credited back when you proceed to build), 40% on design lock, 40% before delivery, and the final 20% on completion of install. We can adjust the schedule for renovations with longer build phases.
What materials do you typically use?
Solid hardwoods where the grain matters — American black walnut, rift-cut white oak, ash, maple, cherry, reclaimed Douglas fir on request. Plywood carcasses for cabinet boxes. Quality paint-grade panel and MDF where the surface will be painted (these are the right choice for painted faces — they hold paint better than solid wood and stay flat). We pick the right material for the project, not the most expensive one.
Do you use unlacquered brass on every project?
By default, yes — it ages with use and tells a more honest story over time. Lacquered brass and oil-rubbed bronze are also available for clients who prefer a finish that stays uniform. The conversation happens during design, never after.
Can I visit the workshop?
Yes, by appointment. Most clients visit at least once during the build of their kitchen — we recommend it. Tuesday through Friday is best, mornings if you'd like to see machinery running.
Do you take on projects outside Calgary?
Routinely — Banff, Canmore, Cochrane, Bragg Creek, the foothills. Edmonton, Lethbridge, or further afield is rare and decided case-by-case based on scope and timing.
How do I get started?
Send a short note through the contact form with the room and rough scope. We respond within one business day, and the first call is free and unhurried — about 30 minutes. If we are not the right studio for the project, we will tell you, and recommend who might be.
